Climbing

Dundee Mountain Club has loads of climbers, ranging from beginners who've just started climbing at Avertical World, the local climbing wall, to those who've been trad-climbing, sport-climbing and ice-climbing all over the world.

Dundee is ideally situated for getting outdoors. Nearby crags include Dunkeld which has plenty of trad climbs of all grades, the sea cliffs at Aberdour are a great place to spend the afternoon in the sun, and most of Scotland's sport climbs are in the vicinity of Dundee and Angus.

In the summer there are frequent evening trips to the sport climbs at Kirriemuir, and if you feel like conquering some mountains at the weekend you can head north into the Highlands. Alternatively head to a local crag, light a BBQ* and chill out in the sun.

* If it's a disposable BBQ either take a spare or bring some lighter fluid, you can guarantee it won't light.
