Ten members stayed at the caving club hut in Elphin for the weekend, with some apprehension given the most appalling forecast. However the bad weather stayed away on Saturday morning allowing everyone to enjoy the scrambling on Stac Pollaidh. The arrival of the rain saw members seeking the shelter of Lochinver and Ullapool. Caving seemed more appropriate on Sunday – out of the wind and rain in Allt nan Uamh Stream cave (ANUS). Those members who squeezed through the sphincter discovered the magnificent gushing torrent of the Thunderghast Falls. A deficit of wetness down below meant that even the furthest reaches could be probed.
