Blackrock Cottage, Glencoe (Sep 2022)

9 – 11 September 2022

Did you, like me, put away your suncream last week, thinking that summer’s definitely over? Too soon, Saturday was an absolute scorcher! This weekend DMC stayed in the classic mountain hut Blackrock Cottage by Glencoe. Some members braved the fearsome notched ridge Aonach Eagach, finishing on the Pap of Glencoe or, more correctly, finishing in the pub at the bottom ;-). Others climbed a scrambling route up the highest peak in the area, Bidean nam Bian, plus neighbouring Munros and tops. At one point we could see each other either side of Glencoe.

It was a real dog day as we fondled several cuddly dogs along the ridge. The descent from the Horrible Corrie Sgreamhach was through the Lost/Hidden Valley, where we took a deviation to discover the truly hidden part. We all regrouped in the hut to celebrate Berenice’s birthday, with lots of cake.

On Sunday we headed up Buachaille Etive Mor starting with the southern Munro and heading back north. No dogs today but we met some friendly Glaswegians which we didn’t stroke.
