Friday 22 – Sunday 24 March 2024
On Friday the 22nd of March 2024, we headed off for a weekend at Dalwhinnie Old School House, a recently opened independent hostel and a new venue for the Club. Some of us left sunny Dundee early, to run, walk or cycle in what transpired to be 70mph sleet – and some even managed to do so.
Saturday weather, only marginally better, called for adjustment of plans, with groups heading up to Carn Dearg (of Monadhliath) and Meall na h-Aisre, as well as low level rides, walks and even a dook. A day full of blasting winds, snowy tops, stunning rainbows, and frisky mountain hares. It was great to get back to the hostel with the cosy fire already lit by the host, Lee. Simon’s veggie lasagne and Dom’s blueberry crumble went down as a treat.
Those of us who didn’t have to head early, made the most of Sunday’s much calmer conditions, with several nearby hills walked and run.
Café visits featured on all three days.
Thanks all for the great weekend!
