Wall to wall sunshine all day on Saturday meant that the two groups – one on top of Beinn Sgulaird (Berenice, Andrew, Allan and Simon) and the other on Ben Cruachan (Paul, Mhairi, Aileen, Dom and Justyna) could wave at each other across the glens. Beinn Sgulaird was also the final Munro for a fellow hiker, though not from the club, and his achievement was accompanied by a piper who serenaded the landscape from the Cuillins in the west to the Cairngorrums in the east. The culinary hit at the BBQ that night was the toasted marshmallow sandwich, just the thing to set us up for the run around the lovely island of Kerrera on Sunday. Afternoon rain meant that the chocolate shop in Oban was our destination and a taster plate our final challenge of the weekend.
