Pass of Ballater (May 2014)

18th May 2014

Careful study of the weather forecast led us to choose Pass of Ballater as a climbing venue this weekend. When we arrived the clouds were looking heavy and grey but we needn’t have worried. Whilst it never got hot the sun did threaten to come out and the rain stayed away. After a couple of warm up routes Daniela styled up Razor’s Crack, a short but vicious VS. Rich and I scored nil points on the style section but somehow got up it. Then I bit off more than I could chew, eventually having to back off another VS and dropping a toprope down just to prove I could do it. We finished the afternoon off by trying, and running away from yet another VS. All in all a great afternoon. Many climbs there that beg to return to.
