Friday 13 – Sunday 15 June 2025
With surprisingly few sign-ups, this trip to Deeside became the 2nd bijou meet of the year and was enjoyed by all.
Lena took the long approach via Glen Tilt and the northern Ring of Tarf hills with a Thursday start. Myself and Carlin arrived first and were soon on bikes up Glen Ey taking on Beinn Iutharn Mhor in dreich conditions up top, returning in the fading light. Meanwhile, Yasmin had made the easy ascent of Creag nan Gabhar from the Glen Callater approach.
The forecast for Saturday was poor but this didn’t stop Chris cycling in to conquer Beinn Bhreac and Beinn a’Chaorrain + top. Yasmin & Carlin went for a soaking on Morrone whilst Lena and I had lazy days. A quiet evening ensued by the cosy wood burner after hearty meals and crumble.
Sunday saw expected improving conditions so Yasmin ventured in to cover Chris’ Saturday outing whilst Lena, Carlin and I enjoyed An Socach from Glen Clunie. Meanwhile, Chris headed for Tolmount and Tom Buidhe via Glen Callater.
