Friday 26 – Sunday 28 June 2026

With Torridon calling at the end of June we all headed up to the small, but perfectly located, Mol Mor hut and the SYHA hostel nearby. We were joined there by Heinke, Katrina and Andy who were still riding the wave of their Munro bagging camping trip that week.

With the weather prospects not optimistic on the Saturday, a large group drove south to scramble around Badachro and find the plane crash site near the Fairy Lochs. After a sun club dip, and baptism for Carlin, they were lured in to the famous Badachro Inn then on to Scott’s pal’s distillery for some tasting.

Berenice and Andrew walked from the hut and, taking advantage of a good path network, headed south-east to Loch an Eoin then up Beinn-na-h-Eaglaise, a Graham at 737m. Brilliant views all around with the tops of Ben Alligin, Liathach and Beinn Eighe all clear despite the forecast. The descent along the gorge of Glac na Gainmhich was particularly dramatic. Luckily nothing came of the gathering clouds until we were off the hill and tucked inside the now-stylish hikers’ bar at the Torridon Hotel.

Despite the damp evening we all gathered for a wee fire on the beach after dinner. The otters didn’t appreciate the hilarity and decided not to join us.

Sunday was definitely a tad breezy, but not to be deterred, a group of six set off with Beinn Eighe in their sights. Battling the wind they skirted round to Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair where the blast scooped up water from the churned up surface of the loch. From there, Chris, Carlin, Yasmin and Scott made it up to Ruadh-stac Mor, one of the western Munros, and probably could have flown to Spidean Coire nan-Clach, but decided to leave that for another day.

Further up the glen, Loch Clair and Loch Coulin presented a good option for us for a trail run (with amazing views) before the long drive home.
