Friday 8 – Sunday 10 May 2026

Arrived at Loch Ossian Youth Hostel on Friday after taking the train from Rannoch station, which has a lovely tea room, where we enjoyed the smell of baked goods and had a warm cup of tea while we waited for the train.

On Saturday we went on a loop of three Munros: Carn Dearg, Sgor Gaibhre, and Beinn na Lap. The weather was brilliant sunshine all day. It was so good that on Sgor Gaibhre I thought about trying to go to Ben Alder too as it appeared tantalizingly close from the summit. However in reality was too much. On the way down me and David were up ahead and stopped to wait for the others but they managed to take a different path and passed us without us noticing. David and I decided to continue to Sgor Gaibhre and when we got internet connection again found that the others had gone straight back. When we returned to the hostel laying in the sun looking over Loch Ossian was the perfect way to relax to after a long day hiking.
