Friday 26 – Sunday 28 September 2025
With an excellent weather forecast with little rain and benign winds predicted Andy and myself set of for this meet early and overnighted in Moffat on Wednesday and Thursday nights. On Wednesday we summited the Corbett Broad Law with a few Donalds/Donald tops added on. Ruth joined us on Thursday to do White Coomb and Hart Fell. In between these we experienced the rather apply named boggy area of Rotten Bottom. Boggy enough I can only imagine how bad it would be after sustained periods of rain. On Friday we made our way down to the Galloway Hills to summit Shalloch on Minnoch and Merrick.
On the same day Greg summited the Corbett Well Hill while Andrejs and Julia summited Corserine.
With a slightly more pessimistic forecast for Saturday Berenice, Ruth, Andrejs and I summited Cairnsmore of Carsphairn early to hopefully avoid the worst of the rains which we did. Greg summited the Graham Millfore whilst the main party had a day out Canyoning. Some brave souls braved the heavy rain and partook in night laser tag in the activity centre grounds on Saturday night. Then it was the DMC 15th birthday party with good food, drink and banter.
On the Sunday one group went sailing whilst another summited the Corbett Corserine with a few more Donalds including an out and back to summit Carlin’s Cairn, a hill we felt needed doing as our friend Carlin from New Zealand was on the hike.
Great meet and many activities enjoyed by all.

Laser Tagging

It just goes to show: if you really, really don’t want to do something, it might turn out to be quite good!
Here we were, 9 of us having signed up for laser tagging, but it was pelting it down!! After some discussion, we nevertheless went out to get sorted into teams and kitted out with “guns”.
Several games later, it had become clear that a green puffer jacket is NOT adequate camouflage attire for avoiding getting shot, that Carlin IS Rambo in disguise (we won two games just because of him) and that needing reading glasses when operating a gun is a disadvantage.
I also was dismayed to find out that some members of this club have no hesitation in shooting their president!
