Sunday 28 December 2025
It’s always nice to get something done in between Christmas and New Year, burn off those mince pies and get out for some fresh air. Quite a few DMC members responded to my Discord post looking for companions, and 5 of us set off early on Sunday morning.
Meall Ghaordaidh was a Munro I’d not done and Iain suggested a variation on the usual route: a loop heading in from Glen Lyon and taking in 5 subsidiary SiMM summits (Six-hundred Metre Mountains).
The slog up the first SiMM seemed interminably steep, but we were rewarded at the top of Creag an Tulabhain by breaking through into the sunshine with glorious views over a cloud inversion to our Munro objective.
The day continued much like this, undulating above and below the clouds. Meall Ghaordaidh summit itself offered fantastic 360-degree, clear views over a surrounding sea of clouds.
It was a long, tough day but we made it back to the car before nightfall and sped off to Ballinluig for much needed hot food before heading for home.
Thanks very much to Jenny for driving us all and keeping our carbon footprint down.
Happy New Year and see you all in 2026.
