After a long journey by bus and car — broken up by a delicious meal at the Inverness Victorian Market — I finally arrived in Aultbea with part of the Tore holiday group. Aultbea is such a picturesque little village, and the hut we stayed in was perfect: plenty of space, generous rooms, and a real fireplace that made it feel wonderfully cosy.
As has happened at the last few DMC meets, the weather forecast took a turn after a sunny week. Still, it didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves. We visited museums and cafés, went climbing, did some low‑level walking, and in a few cases even found time for the local pub. We had a great time — and we ended the day, surprisingly sunny in the end, with a lovely dinner prepared by Carlin and Scot.
The next morning we met at the Sands camping café for brunch. Afterwards we strolled along the beach, then stopped to explore the stone maze and Victoria Falls on our way to Dundee.
