It’s always refreshing to stay somewhere different and the Glen Prosen Hostel didn’t disappoint, especially from a location perspective.
Glen Prosen has always been very peaceful from my previous visits, contrasting with neighbouring Glen Clova with its much greater traffic and footfall.
So it was here that we repaid hospitality to the Gwydyr Club following our trip down to North Wales last autumn with 4 day trippers on Saturday adding to the full hut number of 18.
The forecast mist filled the glen but cleared to blazing sunshine on the summits with the main party doing Driesh and Mayar from the road end via Hill of Strone and a smaller party walking direct from the hostel to Hill of Strone with a variety of returns.
In the evening we fired up the barbecue and had a veritable feast including Dave’s kebabs and flatbreads with crumble served a lot later!
Sunday saw another misty start with the majority opting for Loch Brandy from the Clova Hotel and another sunny clearance and some dooking.
We look forward to sharing a meet with the Wirral folk next year!
