Kintail (16 Nov 2013) (Nov 2013)

If the outdoor gear manufacturers had wanted to test their products “that you can trust”, “for the most extreme conditions in the world” and whether they could “guarantee to keep you dry” they could have done no better than give them to DMC for the Kintail trip. Saturday started well, with a bunch of keen people eager to explore the area, despite the forecast. In fact the weather was relatively benign as we passed through the beautiful Dorusduain woods. On top of the bealach things were different though, as the wind drove the rain right through all layers of clothing. Although the clothing did fail, our enthusiasm was not dampened and we didn’t return to base until dark. The evening was spent sharing stories and photos around a huge pot of chilli. Sunday dawned bright and calm so the five sisters set off early to climb their namesakes, others scrambled up the Forcan Ridge, and a couple took a less-climbed route around Sgurr na Sgine. At the end of a grand day all met up simultaneously in the Claunie for a coffee or hot chocolate.
