Crianlarich / Glen Coe / Glen Etive (Sep 2010)

Friday 24th September 2010 – Sunday 26 September 2010

A bit of a munro bagging weekend! We stopped off in Crianlarich and climbed An Caisteal and Beinn a’ Chroin, making the most of the fantastic sunshine before heading on up to the King’s House for an evening meal and onwards to the Glen Coe SYHA.

We awoke to our first frost of the season in the morning which came as a bit of a surprise. The weather was still looking great and some more munros were beckoning down it Glen Etive so we headed straight down there after breakfast, enjoying the drive down the Glen before heading off up Meall nan Eun and Stob Coir’an Albannaich. The weather stayed pretty good all day with some great views. We also saw our first patches of ice of the season nestled between some rocks on the north facing slopes of Stob Coir’an Albannaich. Our descent back down to Glen Etive ended up being a rather steep downscramble off the north-west shoulder of Beinn Chaorach!
