A very early 4am start to pick people up and drive to Steall car park, Glen Nevis by 8am. A steep ascent of The Ben from the south in gradually worsening weather conditions. Checked into Glen Nevis campsite just before reception closed at 8pm and were delighted to find toilet and shower blocks fully open……and they had tumble dryers!
Day 2 was a long drive North, via Inverness for a new exhaust for Bruce’s car, to Durness. Wild camped on a beautiful beach on the North Coast. Day 3 the July weather was, for once, excellent. We climbed Ben Hope and got views NE to Orkney and West to the Outer Hebrides. Evening swim in the Pentland Firth followed by beers on the beach. Great end to lockdown.
