Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th April 2011
For Easter weekend we stayed at Coruisk Memorial Hut on the Isle of Skye, on the east side of the Cuillin ridge. We arrived on the boat from Elgol on the Friday afternoon in lovely sunshine, took a walk along the coast, had some fun on the “bad step”, and then had a barbecue by the hut. Unfortunately the weather was rather mixed for the rest of the weekend with cloud, rain and wind smothering the Cuillin ridge. However we made the best of the conditions by heading up Sgurr na Stri which was below the cloud base and gave us some fantastic views! Poor Allan was ill all weekend and had spent most of it in the hut, but did manage a wee outing to the “bad step” on Sunday morning. Most folks then took the midday boat back, but Andrew and Andres took the opportunity to climb halfway up Gars-Bheinn as the weather was improving rapidly. Before long it was time to head home though, and they came back down to catch the last boat.
