Fri 4 May – Sun 6 May 2021
A good weather forecast made for an exciting prospect of remote wild camping. Fiona cycled in on the Friday morning bagging Ben Alder & Bheinn Bheoil, joined in the evening by Andrew, Berenice and Iain. The 4 headed up the Lancet Edge on Saturday morning enjoying sunshine but fresh winds on the Geal Charn group. Meanwhile Paul & I met up at Dalwhinnie for our cycle in and then headed up Carn Dearg meeting the others on their descent. Some light showers and lowering cloud base dampened any enthusiasm for Geal Charn for us and so, after bagging an easy top, we sauntered down to Loch an Sgoir and back to camp, Fiona having cycled back out. No midges to trouble us meant a pleasant evening with an early night enforced by more light rain. I was up early to enjoy the dawn and, with cloud on Ben Alder, I opted to cycle out and took in Creagan Mor at Balsporran getting great views over the country we’d been in. Knowing Andrew & Berenice had no hill plans for Sunday, we were able to team up for ice-cream at House of Bruar! Meanwhile Iain & Paul had a good day on Ben Alder & Beinn Bheoil. Thanks to Iain for doing the organising.
