Mountain Windsurfing/Extreme Ironing, Loch Etchachan (Jun 2011)

Saturday 25th June 2011

DMC has completed what is believed to be a world-first challenge: Extreme ironing on a windsurfer on the highest loch in the UK!

Windsurfing on the highest loch in the UK had never been done before.

Ironing on a windsurfer? Unlikely.

The two combined? Pure madness, I tell you!

Pete Scott and Nicolas Duplouy braved fierce winds and icy waters surfing on the Loch
which sits at 927 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Cairngorms. 11 DMC members were
involved in the event.

The challenge involved hauling a surf board, 2 sails and an ironing board from Linn of Dee to Loch Etchachan and back down again! A 30km (18½ mile) round trip with over 750m (approx 2,500 feet) of height gain!

This was a great team effort and a lot of fun was had by everyone!
