Inbhirfhaolain Hut, Glen Etive (Mar 2012)

Friday 16th – Sunday 18th March 2012

Another March, another weekend staying at Inbhirfhaolain hut in Glen Etive. A lot less snow than last year though!

The hut has had some attention since last year; the microwave now works and a lot of dampness has been removed, especially noticeable in the kitchen. We did struggle to get the wood stove to heat the main room though! Compared to last year the weather was warmer and more sunny. There was very little snow on the mountains yet the deer were still down in the valley looking very picturesque except when they jumped into the road in front of the car at night! Everyone took the long trek out to Beinn nan Aighenan on Saturday with Glas Bheinn Mhor as a bonus. The views were splended all day. Bill cooked us all a hearty meal when we returned, topped off with left-over Christmas pudding. For a change on Sunday we took the staircase of the devil towards Kinlochleven, much easier than last year as it wasn’t covered in a meter of snow!
