Inver Croft, Achnasheen (Apr 2024)

Friday 26 – Sunday 28 April 2024

With the wet and windy weather which marked many of the April weekends finally relenting the club headed to the Inver Croft hut at Achnasheen and was able to finally take advantage of a weekend where you wouldn’t get blown off your feet.

Fridays weather looked great and so the hill climbing started early with at least two assents of Fionn Bheinn. Saturday was a bit more undecided starting as a beautiful spring day and ending with winter back on the hills. The sun was out and the views were great but only in between bouts of horizontal snow. Despite this lots was done with assents of Beinn Eighe, Slioch, Maoile Lunndaidh, Sgùrr Chòinnich and Sgùrr a’Chaorachain to name a few. Back at the hut big hill days necessitated a big dinner and long blether. Fortunately we had a fantastic three course meal fuelling everyone for the next day. Sunday saw a diverse range of activities with more hills climbed but also with some sampling the excellent Midge Cafe at Achnasheen. All in all a great April weekend.
