In October three DMC members climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, which at 5895m is the highest mountain in Africa. For some of us this was the culmination of months of training, of which the trip to the Alps in July was only one part. It was certainly a tough climb but the Lemosho route gave us sufficient time to acclimatise to the altitude whilst passing through a complete variety of vegetation and traversing the whole south side of the mountain from west to east. An equally large challenge was the raising of sponsorship for charity (it’s not too late to donate, just catch us in the pub!).
