Les 3 Vallées (Feb 2012)

Saturday 25th February – Saturday 3rd March 2012

Several members had a great week skiing in the French Alps, in and around the enormous 3 Vallées ski area.

Jon, Hazel and Andrew spent the whole week on an off-piste course with Jagged Globe , whilst Allan enjoyed maximising his ski mileage on the pistes (though we did persuade him to join us on the course for two of the days!)

We all improved our ski technique, gained confidence with skiing steeper and trickier ground, and enjoyed several off piste descents of beautiful “off the back” valleys and backcountry snowfields. The weather was stunning the whole week (lots of sun cream used!) and the big dumps of snow in the Alps over the past couple of months meant conditions were pretty good despite higher than normal temperatures whilst we were there. Our guide expertly directed us to the nicest slope aspects, avoiding the crud, soft snow, and ice!

Staying in a catered chalet in Courchevel 1850, booked separately, we were treated to the luxury of freshly baked cakes after coming off the slopes each evening, followed by wine, canapés a three course dinner, and of course breakfast the following morning. We even had our packed lunches made for us!

All this luxury was most welcome as it was a pretty action packed week, being out all day every day from first lift to last!
