The club held a navigation practice evening up in the Sidlaws. Ten people headed up to Balkello Woodland to wander around the hills with their maps and compasses. Experienced hillwalkers always benefit from a chance to practice and it was good opportunity to pass on skills and tips to people new to mapreading and navigation. This evening we concentrated mostly on judging distance using pacing and timing, along with reading the map and using features to navigate. This time we had more success with the weather and finished off with a BBQ. Thanks to Jim for organising the evening and Justyna for storing the food.
