Inver Croft, Achnasheen (Feb 2011)

Friday 25th – Sunday 27th February 2011

Weekend meet to Inver Croft Hut, Achnasheen.

An excellent day was had on Saturday starting off by all climbing Maol Chean Dearg from Coulags. There was a bit of scrambling fun on the South East on the way up. Remarkably for February, there was very little snow, even on top!

The group split with some returning to Coulags and others going on to Beinn Liath Mhor. The latter group descended from Maol Chean Dearg via a short snow gully that remained. They then progressed round the 785m top with magnificent scenery to Torridon. This turned out to be a fairly long day, bringing them back to the car (which had been conveniently moved to Achnashellach Station thanks to the other group!) in the dark.

We all enjoyed the communal spagbol meal and apple pie back at the hut!

On Sunday we did a short walk up Fionn Beinn on the freshly fallen snow (bottom left pic) before driving back to Dundee.
