10 Under the Ben 21/06/2014

Niall competed in the “10 Under the Ben” race for the 3

rd

time and again improved his result by completing 7 laps in 9hrs and something; and at the same time collected an extra name “Adam”.

Spook reckoned this was his hardest course in recent years so I was even more delighted with the improvement; the 90’s Trance earworm probably didn’t help much.

Enduro 22/06/2014

As if 10 Under the Ben wasn’t enough punishment an “Easy” Enduro is run the day after, unfortunately my full suspension bike suffered a mechanical failure between stages 4 and 5, this didn’t stop me single speeding the bike as stage 5 was my favourite descent at the Witches’ Trails. Despite only having the biggest gear and stopping to fiddle with it (and running up the climb), I managed to complete that stage 1 second slower than on my run with gears. Once I had reached the bottom I couldn’t be bothered walking back up to the top to complete my least favourite descent so called it a day collecting my first ever DNF in the process.

The Glens/Fife Cycling 100 28-29/06/2014

And as if that wasn’t enough, I took to the road with a friend to complete a 60Km road ride from Kirrie Square to the Doll and back before joining a group from Mid-Fife to knacker me into a rest fortnight with a rapid 162Km ride (Imperial Century) and picking up some horrific sunburn!
